Colonial Lake

Candlelight Memorial Ceremony

November 21, 2010

A well-loved tradition, Hospice of Charleston Foundation's 22nd Candlelight Memorial Ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Colonial Lake in downtown Charleston. The result of a collaboration with Hospice of Charleston – a Gentiva Company, this event offers an opportunity to remember loved ones through luminaries around Colonial Lake and a brief service of hope with music, readings, and time to reflect.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Charleston Foundation (HOCF) and will support our efforts to expand access to, and awareness of, hospice services through the following programs:
  • Assistance to low-income, uninsured hospice patients through our grants program

  • Support for bereaved families with community-wide events such as Candlelight Memorial and Shannon's Hope camp for children

  • Community education about the benefits of hospice care

Luminaries will feature printed memorial names and be placed in alphabetical order around the lake. Names will also be printed in the program to be handed out at the event.

The rain location for this event is Grace Episcopal Church, located at 98 Wentworth Street.

2009 Candlelight Memorial Ceremony
We would like to especially thank J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Funeral Chapels and Crematory for their 2009 sponsorship. We would also like to thank Grace Episcopal Church for allowing us to hold the ceremony there, due to inclement weather.
